Piazza Plebiscito

Piazza Plebiscito looking toward San Martino

Piazza Plebiscito is a  large open space bounded on four sides by Palazzo Reale and the Chiesa di S Francesco di Paola and two government buildings on opposite sides of the square. These buildings now belonging to and are in use by the Italian State. Not surprisingly, one finds there are lots of Carabinieri here. In front of the Church, facing the Palace are two monumental statues of King Ferdinand, I think, and another king an horseback. The bay is visible in a far corner. It is now, thankfully, closed to all but pedestrian traffic. It used to be a chaotic mess of parked cars, people, and buses (there was a big bus stop there).
