The Spaccanapoli or "Cuts Naples" Street
The "Spaccanapoli" is a narrow street that cuts across Naples for several miles. The street creates a strange visual impression, as it divides the city, and for this reason, it is a tourist destination. It is mostly a shopping street with products that range from the kitschy to the sublime. I had never been there before this trip. I don't know why. I just always had an antipathy for it. It is actually is a pleasant alternative to the overwhelming nature of the Naples "monument tourism" which I usually favor.
