Castel
Dell'Ovo

The once Roman, Norman, & now Italian castle appears to
float on the the sea.

There is a small marina by the castle.

Wow! I love it.
Castel dell'Ovo, the "Egg Castle," is beautiful in the day or at night.
It is massive, a man made mountain that glows dramatically in the bay of Naples
at night
and powerfully confronts the viewer amid glistening waters by day.

See what I mean?

Castel dell'Ovo appears to be as much a part of the sea
as the land.

The foundations of the structure appear to rest upon
and even be one with a rock jutting out into the sea.

Very strange. Where does the foundation end and the rock
begin?

Nearby is the ever present and chaotic Naples traffic.

Of course, these photos cannot fully convey what
it is like to really be there

in 3D with the sounds, smells, sea, sun, and vibrant
energy of Naples.

In a word, it is awesome and like everything about
Naples completely overwhelming.

dell'Ovo.
Time for a Snack

On one side of Castel dell'Ovo is a small fisherman's village, a marina, and a
charming cove which has many restaurants and coffee bars.
I stopped for a little while to rest and have a snack there. This is what I had;
an aranciata (orange soda) and a pizzetta
which was something like a ham and cheese with tomato. Actually, this pizzetta
is a folded pizza with prosciutto.

A window on the village side.

Flags

Taken while I was sitting eating my pizzetta.

Mmm this pizzetta is good.
